Can cats eat Mackerel (Cooked)?

Generally safe

Fine to share in sensible amounts.

Plain fully cooked boneless mackerel (cooked) can be an occasional cat treat, but fish should not dominate a cat's diet. Oily fish; avoid smoked, salted, or canned-in-brine forms.

Before you feed it

  • Cook fully
  • Remove all bones
  • Avoid raw, smoked, salted, canned-in-brine, battered, fried, or seasoned fish

How much is safe

Tiny plain cooked pieces occasionally
