Can cats eat Coconut?

Feed with caution

Small amounts only, and not right for every pet.

Coconut is best avoided for cats except for a tiny confirmed-safe taste, because it is not nutritionally useful and can upset digestion. Coconut oils can cause loose stool or diarrhea; avoid sweetened flakes.

Before you feed it

  • Avoid routine feeding
  • Very small amounts only if offered
  • Stop feeding if vomiting, diarrhea, or discomfort occurs

How much is safe

Avoid; at most a tiny plain piece
