Introduction
At NutriPet, we respect your privacy and provide complete control over your data. This policy outlines how you can request the deletion of your account and associated data, and what happens to your information when you do so.
1. How to Delete Your Account
You can request the deletion of your NutriPet account and all associated data through the following methods:
Method 1: In-App Deletion (Instant)
This is the fastest way to delete your data.
- Open the NutriPet App
- Go to Settings (Gear icon)
- Scroll down to the "Account Actions" section
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Follow the confirmation prompts (This action is irreversible)
Method 2: Web Request (Manual)
If you cannot access the app, you may submit a deletion request via email.
- Email us at support@nutripet.app
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Please send the email from the address associated with your NutriPet account
- We will process your request within 7 business days and confirm via email
2. What Data is Deleted?
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our active production databases:
- Identity Information: Your email address, user ID, and profile details
- Account Avatar: Your private account profile photo, avatar metadata, and active upload policy
- Pet Profiles: All created pet profiles, including names, breeds, ages, and photos
- Scan History: Your entire history of barcode and food scans
- Food Journal: All logs of meals, treats, and feeding records
- Custom Data: Any custom foods (my foods), notes, or preferences you have saved
- Cloud Backup Data: Your data backed up to our cloud servers, encrypted in transit and at rest
3. Data Retention & Backups
Immediate Deletion
- Your login access is revoked immediately
- Your data is removed from active databases immediately upon confirmation
- Your profile photo is hidden immediately and its Storage object is deleted through a retry-safe deletion process
Retention Period
- Backups: To protect against accidental data loss or system failures, encrypted database backups may retain your information for up to 30 days. After this period, your data is permanently expunged from all backups.
- Legal & Safety: We may retain limited purchase, moderation, appeal, security, or audit records for up to 365 days or longer where law requires it. Removed image files are not retained for moderation purposes.
Third-Party Services
- Subscriptions: Deleting your account DOES NOT automatically cancel your subscription if purchased via Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You must manually cancel your subscription in your phone settings to avoid future charges.
- Analytics: account-linked pseudonymous events are deleted or unlinked; non-identifying aggregate reporting may be retained for service improvement.
4. Deleting Part of Your Data
You do not need to delete your entire account to manage your data. The NutriPet app allows you to:
- Delete individual Pets: Open the pet's profile → Tap the trash icon in the top-right corner → Confirm deletion
- Clear Scan History: Go to Settings → Data & Storage → Clear Scan History
- Clear Food Journal: Go to Settings → Data & Storage → Clear Food Journal
- Remove Profile Photo: Go to Settings → My Profile → Profile Photo and choose initials or a preset icon
